Meet Theo, the AI assistant on our website

Theo is the AI assistant on the Telos Creative website, and you can talk to him today. He is a cartoon Colorado black bear in a TELOS polo. Ask him out loud about websites, SEO or branding at any hour. He answers from our own information, can book you a call with Arnold, and can run a free audit of your website while you chat. He is also a working example of the AI receptionist we set up for Northern Colorado businesses.

Why did we build Theo?

Arnold runs Telos Creative from Windsor, and most of his day is spent with clients. Our phone hours are 8 to 4, Monday to Friday. People do not keep those hours. They look at websites in the evening, once the kids are in bed, or on a Sunday when they finally have time to think about their own marketing.

Before Theo, a question at 9pm meant a contact form and a wait until morning. Now you can ask, get an answer and book a time with Arnold before you close the tab.

There was a second reason. An AI receptionist is hard to picture from a description. You have to hear one. So we built ours first, on our own site, with the same setup we build for clients.

What can Theo do?

Open Theo’s page, press Start talking and say hello. It works like a video call, and you can type instead if you would rather not talk.

  • He asks who you are first. Your name and email appear on screen so you can fix anything he misheard before it is saved. He spots typos like gmial.com and checks that the address can receive mail.
  • He answers questions about our work. Web design, SEO, branding and StoryBrand messaging, from our own pages. When he does not know something, he says so and passes your question to Arnold.
  • He runs a free website audit while you talk. It takes two or three minutes. He tells you the score and the biggest thing to fix, and the full report goes to your email. You can also run the free website audit yourself.
  • He books a call with Arnold. A 30-minute video call, weekdays between 8 and 4 Mountain time, at a time that is actually open on Arnold’s calendar.
  • He tells you he is an AI. In his first sentence, and again if you ask.

When the chat ends you get a short email confirming we have your details, and the whole conversation lands in our inbox. Arnold reads it and follows up himself.

Why is our AI assistant a bear?

A made-up human face felt wrong for something that is not human. A cartoon makes it obvious you are talking to an AI, and it is a lot more fun to talk to.

He is a Colorado black bear, and like plenty of Colorado black bears he is actually brown. He wears a headset, he is rarely far from his coffee, and if you open his page at the wrong moment you will catch him mid-sip. He looks a little embarrassed about it.

The name comes from TELOS. It is short, friendly and easy to hear on a phone line.

How is Theo different from a website chatbot?

Most AI chatbots for websites are a typing box in the corner. Some follow a script, and plenty just collect your details so someone can get back to you later.

Theo talks. You speak to him the way you would on the phone and he answers out loud, with subtitles under the video. He books the call himself instead of sending you to a form, and he runs the audit there and then. The same assistant can answer a business phone line too, with one voice and one set of answers.

He is not perfect. He can mishear a name or an email address, which is why your details appear on screen to check. If the microphone will not start, open the page in Safari or Chrome, or tap Type instead.

What happens to what you tell Theo?

We keep a written transcript of each conversation so Arnold can follow up. The microphone and the video are only on while a chat is running. The details are in our privacy policy.

What comes next for Theo?

Our phone. When Arnold is with a client and cannot pick up, Theo will answer instead of voicemail, on the same number, (970) 581-1398. We are setting that up now.

Can your business have an assistant like Theo?

Yes. We set them up for businesses across Northern Colorado: contractors on a job site, shops with one person at the front, anyone who loses calls while they work. Yours can use your business name, a character of your own or your own voice. It answers your phone and your website, books onto your calendar and sends every conversation to your inbox.

An assistant works best on a site that already brings people in, so it pairs well with a website built to bring in calls and SEO that gets you found.
